The Drents Museum is an art and history museum in Assen in the province of Drenthe in the Netherlands. The museum was opened in 1854. It has a collection of prehistorical artifacts, applied art, and visual art. With over 90.000 objects, the Drents Museum collection is one of the larger collections in the Netherlands. In terms of size and quality, the Archaeology collection is one of the most important in Northwest Europe. Part of this collection is presented permanently and is often shown in international exhibitions.

In 2013, it moved into the first newly constructed Dutch museum building of the 21st century. As the main repository of Friesland’s material heritage, it is recognised internationally for key aspects of its collection. These include spectacular treasures excavated from ancient Frisian mounds, 17th- and 18th-century Frisian silverware, and works by the 19th-century painter Lawrence Alma-Tadema, who was born near Leeuwarden.

Leeuwarden is the capital of Fryslân, a Dutch province with its own Frisian language and culture, and cradle of all ruling European royalty. The main focus of Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden is preserving the municipal archives of Leeuwarden, which date back as far as the Middle Ages. Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden also houses the largest image collection of the northern Netherlands, an extensive library with books and multimedia and a municipal art collection. It is also custodian of Archaeological Centre Leeuwarden, and of the nearby leaning tower of Oldehove and Pier Pander Museum.

The collection grew with loans, donations and, above all, the acquisition of the Bol collection, which meant an important strengthening of the base. The focus here was on visual art from two periods: the period of the artists' colony in Oosterbeek (roughly from 1840- 1880) and the flowering period of 'Pictura Veluvensis' (roughly from 1900-1930). In 1997, Euroart asked the Museum Veluwezoom Foundation to join her association. That opened and opened an unexpectedly broad perspective: after all, 36 former artists' colonies have joined this association while there are three candidate members.

When his second wife Augusta Maria Witsen-Schorr passed away in 1943, she bequeathed the house and its contents to the state. Teylers Museum is an art, natural history, and science museum in Haarlem, Netherlands. Established in 1778, Teylers Museum was founded as a centre for contemporary art and science. In the center of Delft on the Koornmarkt is the house of Paul Tetar van Elven (1823 - 1896). He was an artist, copyist, teacher at the Polytechnic School Delft (now TU Delft) and a passionate collector of porcelain and earthenware. Until 1892 he inhabited this originally sixteenth-century canal house. He left the house with belongings to the city of Delft to make it a museum. In 1927 it was so far: the gem on the canal became a museum.

The museum houses the Royal Cabinet of Paintings which consists of 841 objects, mostly Dutch Golden Age paintings. Panorama Mesdag is a panorama by Hendrik Willem Mesdag. Housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the panorama is a cylindrical painting (also known as a Cyclorama) more than 14 metres high and about 40 metres in diameter (120 metres in circumference). From an observation gallery in the centre of the room the cylindrical perspective creates the illusion that the viewer is on a high sand dune overlooking the sea, beaches and village of Scheveningen in the late 19th century. A foreground of fake terrain around the viewing gallery hides the base of the painting and makes the illusion more convincing.

The museum’s establishment in 1842 was a private initiative. Dordrecht had always had an important community of collectors, and in that year five of them decided that the time was ripe to found “a Museum of Paintings” that would bring greater recognition for “the talents of the living masters”. The Dordrecht Museum Association(Vereniging Dordrechts Museum) was duly inaugurated, and soon counted no fewer than 113 members. The city corporation made the upper hall of the Butter Exchange (Boterbeurs) on Wijnstraat available as an exhibition space, and so one of the country’s first art museums was born . There was already the Central Museum in Utrecht, but not yet the Boijmans Museum in Rotterdam (1847) or the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem (1862).

The museum is the house of the banker and collector Simon van Gijn who lived there from 1864 until his death in 1922. Van Gijn left the house and most of his collections to the Old Dordrecht Society. To further express the long and special ties between the Netherlands and Japan, a number of parties established the SieboldHuis Foundation with the aim of reopening the SieboldHuis. Siebold lived in this house and as early as in 1837 and it was in this location that Siebold showed his collection of Japanese objects and artefacts to an interested public. Entrance to the Kunsthal is from the Westzeedijk. Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art has recently come to examine the origins of its name, drawn in 1990 from the street on which it is situated, and Admiral Witte Corneliszoon de With (1599 – 1658), a Dutch naval officer engaged in colonial exploits.
